A big thank you to the folks (especially Heather, Kelly, Lynda, and Rob) at the Mandeville Special Collections Library, UC San Diego for hosting GLAM(NA) for a tour during SAA this year. We were treated to an overview of the MSCL’s fantastic collection, which covers culinary history, history of science, arts of the book, the works of Theodor Seuss Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss), and the Archive for New Poetry (and more!).
Any ideas of where to visit at next year’s SAA in New Orleans? Perhaps a walking tour including the homes of Tennessee Williams (1014 Dumaine Street) and William Faulkner?
The Historic New Orleans Collection would be an excellent place to visit. They have a large Tennessee Williams collection and other archives associated with the literary and cultural heritage of the city.
Sounds like a great collection — thank you for the tip!
We’d love to have you at the Louisiana Research Collection! We’re located at Tulane University. LaRC has a rich collection of literary archives, including papers from John Kennedy Toole, Lyle Saxon, George Washington Cable, Frances Parkinson Keyes, and Lafcadio Hearn.
